Her Words....My Sentiments Exactly!!
It appears as if Pastor Terry Jones is able to live with blood on his hands in spite of being asked by the CIA and FBI, as well as demands by General Petraeus, to not go through with the burning of the Koran! It has already incited riots amongst Muslim countries and American Convoy Troops are being attacked. It's endangering our troops and their overall effort! It's not only insulting to Muslims, it's insulting to our troops as well! It sends a message saying that everything they've fought for and are continuing to fight for was for nothing! An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind!
This is no longer about an Islamic Cultural Center in Manhattan, remembering 9/11 victims, or freedom or religion, this is about HATRED...100% pure unadulterated HATRED! We must not support these waves of religious intolerance, hatred, bigotry and racism! There are anti-mosque rallies taking place around the country, and even reports of arson and gun shots at a mosque in Tennessee. The fear mongers rallying against the Muslims are missing the point: messages of hatred get us nowhere. In fact, they hurt us. Will new bloodshed help to heal the wounds?
Even though Bush lied and soldiers died we will always honor our heroes! They gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe and continue to fight for our freedom! Thank you men and women of our armed services! I couldn't be more proud! The victims of 9/11 paid the ultimate sacrifice too! We need to remember our losses with an affirmation of our nation's unity and confidence. We're talking about human lives! Stand up for the fundamental principles that have made this country great - religious freedom, pluralism, and tolerance! Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter!
Robert Dahl, a noted pluralist, suggested in one of his early writings that in societies like ours "politics is a sideshow in the great circus of life." Forget about trying to gain political points, we all need to come together as a human race and speak out! Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, don't sit on the sidelines and say nothing! Can politics actually compel someone to not know the difference between right and wrong? We've moved beyond that already and we're better than that!
If I'm not mistaken, in America, we the people, are to be free from all types of oppression and religious persecution. Racism has been set back fifty years or more. I was born in the late 50's and I've never seen such HATRED! Never! It's deplorable and unacceptable! To think this all started because the United States of America has it's first black president! How sad is that? That's what sparked the fire that has spun out of control! Do Americans lack the virtues--reason, intelligence to see what we've become and what we're doing to our nation as a whole?
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is when good people do nothing! Stand up and speak up people! We must not allow this to happen! Together, we can challenge those who are delivering messages of hate and seeking political gain by dividing us. Stand up for your beliefs and who you are as an individual! Stand up for what is "right." Stand up for the United States of America!
