Carol Filby:
Obama's plans made a huge impact on my life, yesterday, by implementing the HAMP program. Bush initiated it shortly before leaving office, knowing he would not have to deal with administrating it. It was not broad enough to trickle down to people like me, who make less than $9/hr. I was on the verge of losing my home. Obama refused to implement it until 2 or 3 changes were made, so the funds involved would help people who, through no fault of their own, were in danger of losing their homes. It was not meant to help those who had greedily bought a home way beyond their means, had 3 or 4 cars, credit debt in six figures, yet the banks didn't find "them" a "high risk". So, I applied for a forbearance 5/29/10. It was touch & go for awhile. Yesterday they called me to tell me I had been approved, based on my qualifying for Social Security this Dec. They gave me a 6-mo forbearance, to 1/1/11. All fees & interest will be stopped, no payment need be made until 1/2/11, and they will modify the previous late & interest by perhaps as much as 50%. The new mortgage will be written 1/2/11, at a modifed rate of 2-3.5%. God love him! If nothing else he does helps me so directly - I'll be forever grateful. He's got my support. He was "great" on the View. Glad I was able to be home and see it. He was talking right to me, and you, and all the "working" people who contribute a large percentage of their income (sometimes every cent of it - and none to spare, and still can't buy a new pair of shoes). People who know what it feels like to worry from month-to-month how they're going to pay the car insurance, to keep looking for a job that everyone thinks you're too "old" to do! He'll always have my vote! Sorry I can't say the same for NC's Dem. Governor. Can't vote for her again.
This is the one thing RepubliCANTS can not discredit....real people with real life stories that they live everyday. This POTUS is helping the everyday, average, "like you and the guy next door" American. Keep this story, and all your untold stories. in your mind in "NO"vember.
Remember In "NO"vember.....
Vote Democratic.
